Inspirations for the book cover design of “ The Invention of Morel” by Adolfo Bioy Casares’ came from how the fugitive behaves by hiding while observing the new visitors to the island, as well as the idea of how we are remembered and live on in time. This idea that like the ruins we find from our past have left their mark in time, so does the fugitive in the story.
These ideas are depicted on the cover with the man who looks like a damaged statue hiding behind the plants while observing goings on of the island.

The assignment for this first illustration was to create a poster design for Volkswagen, and depict the journey to a festival. I was inspired by the retro wagons that always come to mind to me personally when i think travel and festival. I think of how people who drove those wagons in the 60’s and 70’s all joined together for love, peace and music.
The poster was created using a paper cutting style.
The assignment for the second illustration was to create a transit related artwork to be used by the MTA. Our emphasis was Grand Central Station, so a part of the research process was to actually visit the station. I was enamored by the constellations found on the ceiling and used that as a jumping off point in my design. I created a constellation based off things that relate to traveling in New York City and used similar colors found on the constellation artwork in Grand central. I also included the train line map because I think it’s important for anyone traveling in NYC.
This poster was created digitally.

For the gif assignments we were given freedom to create anything.
The first gif is my first attempt and is just a quirky reinterpretation of an illustration I did. This gif has more texture and hand colored feel to it.
The second gif was created to be added to my demo reel assignment and represents some of my favorite things; you can see a common theme of plants. This gif in comparison to the first has a smoother look.

The assignment was to design a logo, brand identity booklet with five applications which are based off an animal and company. I had to combine a hippopotamus and airline to design the logo.
I named the airline Seekoei, which is hippopotamus in Afrikaans, a dialect spoken in South Africa, the home to hippopotamus. I decided to make the airline one that began by traveling to Africa and over time expanded.
I created my brand identity booklet by using the colors I selected for the airline and created mock-ups for the applications.

These two posters were created in two different classes.
For the first poster we were assigned to pick an endangered animal for which we were to create an informative poster about. I picked the Black Footed Ferret and created an illustration using the homes of the ferrets and then allowed the ferrets to interact with the type. I utilized Adobe Illustrator to create the illustration.

For the second poster, we were assigned to design a mental illness awareness poster. We picked at random and I got Retrograde Amnesia. We had parameters for the assignment that included only using abstract basic shapes, a minimum of two colors and to pick a font that appropriately fit the design to be used to label and write a small description.
I decided that a puzzle like idea would work to depict how a person who suffers from this disorder can lose access to information they had learned prior to an injury or trauma. The shapes line up starting on the upper left corner, this depict that everything is okay and as a visual, making the proper connections. As we move towards the center we see a blue diagonal line that depicts the trauma, it then transitions to the shapes not fitting into the right spot. This depicts the inability to make connection with previous knowledge. The gradient in pink also depicts this transition of the ability to access this information to not.
